Steve E. George and the Groove

STEVE E. GEORGE AND THE GROOVE

Steve E. George and the Groove debuts as a new band in Des Moines, yet this band’s players are by no means new the city’s music scene. From the first time these musicians jammed together, it was an obvious fit. Their ability to watch, listen and feel is key to The Groove. From the blues with Hammond B-3 organ and guitar licks, to the R&B and funk of the drums and bass, it all comes together to be The Groove. If you came to dance or if you came to listen, Steve E. George and the Groove plan to make your evening enjoyable.

Steve E. George, a veteran of the Des Moines music community, was inspired, as a child, by the soulful gospel sounds of the elders in his small Baptist church. He has been a vocalist and frontman since the 1960’s and has performed in many
clubs around the country. In 2005, Steve E. was inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame for, to date, 50 years of keeping the blues alive. (www.steveegeorge.com).

Emeal Myles has played bass guitar for over 40 years. Originating from Chicago, IL, Emeal picked up the bass at age 14 and has been putting the bottom in it ever since! From laying down a solid baseline to stepping out and taking you with him on a funky solo, you can’t help but enjoy the ride. Having honed his skills in Chicago clubs, Emeal moved to Des Moines several years ago and has kept busy with various musical projects and working with great local musicians like the late Janey Hooper, Bob Pace and Flipside. His ability to play all styles of music has kept him in hot demand.

Des Moines native Seth Jamison, lead guitarist, and youngest member of The Groove brings a musical background far beyond his years. At age 18, Seth was accepted into the Los Angeles College of Music. This was an opportunity to learn
from world-class musicians. He worked as a studio musician for 3 years which also provided him the experience of working with many great musicians. Seth has been back in Des Moines for 2 years playing and teaching guitar lessons. His mix of solid education and raw natural talent is evident when playing rhythm and solos, thus keeping him in high demand.

Jeff Daniels, a pianist, and proud owner and musical master of a Hammond B-3 organ has been playing since the early 1990’s. He has worked with numerous Iowa-based bands and currently doubles as keyboardist for the Punching Pandas.
Jeff is well-versed in rock, funk, and blues and you can’t beat the unique sound of his HB3 when he’s in The Groove!

Drummer Jim Parker keeps the band in that Groove. Jim started playing drums at age 8, after seeing the infamous Buddy Rich live. Jim played with the Cavaliers, one of the hottest bands in Des Moines for many years, and was inducted with the Cavaliers into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has been the driving force, keeping the beat for much high profile acts in the city, e.g. Tony Valdez Large Band, Sumpin Doo, and Sam Salamone. Jim keeps the band in time (and in line)…..talkin’ bout the Groove!
